Does online speech therapy actually work?
For most of what we treat, yes, and the research base for telepractice is now substantial rather than provisional. It is not universally suitable, and where it falls down is listed plainly on the telehealth page. Anyone telling you it works equally well for everything is overselling.
My child already gets speech at school. Do they need this too?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. School services are allocated on educational impact, a narrower test than clinical need, and usually delivered in a group of three or four. If your child qualified and is progressing well, you may need nothing else. If they did not qualify, or qualified and stalled, that is when families add private therapy.
Why do you not take insurance?
Because insurance decides the therapy: session length, session count, and which goals qualify. Direct pay keeps those clinical. You can still claim reimbursement yourself with the superbill we provide. Full explanation on the payment page.
What is the homework about?
Every client goes home with structured assignments, because most communication learning happens between sessions. A few minutes daily beats one long session a week. Families who do it progress noticeably faster, and if it is not happening we would rather change the plan than pretend.
Should I just wait and see?
Sometimes waiting is genuinely right, and a good clinician will say so. But "wait and see" is handed out far too freely, and the evidence on early intervention is not ambiguous. A free consultation costs fifteen minutes and gets you a real opinion.
How long will this take?
It depends, and anyone giving you a number before evaluating your child is making it up. You get an honest estimate after the evaluation and a review schedule so you can see whether it is tracking.
What if my child will not sit still for a screen?
Common, and usually solvable, because sessions for young children are play-based and parent-coached rather than screen-based. For some children it genuinely does not work, and we would rather find that out in the free consultation than three paid sessions in.
Do you work with adults?
Yes. See therapy for adults.
Which states can you work in?
Texas and Georgia. What matters is where you physically are during the session, not where you live on paper.
