Why we do not bill insurance
Because insurance decides the therapy. When a plan is paying, the plan sets session length, session count, and which goals count as medically necessary. That is how a child who needs forty-five minutes gets thirty, and how therapy stops at a session limit rather than at a clinical endpoint.
Direct pay means:
- Session length and frequency are clinical decisions
- No prior authorization, and no waiting for approval before starting
- No surprise bill months later when a claim is denied
- Your child's diagnosis stays out of insurer databases
We know this puts TimeWise out of reach for some families and would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If cost is the barrier, raise it at the consultation and you will get an honest answer about your options, including options that are not us.
The plain disqualifier: if in-network coverage is what makes therapy possible for your family, TimeWise is not the right practice, and you should know that now rather than after a deposit.
What sessions cost
Rates are not published on this site. You get the current fee schedule at the free consultation, alongside the session length and frequency your situation actually calls for, so the number means something rather than sitting on a page out of context. Nothing is owed before that conversation.
Superbills
If your plan has out-of-network benefits, you can claim reimbursement yourself. We provide a superbill with the codes your insurer needs, and you submit it directly. What comes back is between you and your plan, so no figure is promised here.
HSA and FSA
Speech therapy is an eligible medical expense, so an HSA or FSA card generally works. Check with your administrator if you are unsure.
Medicaid and Medicare
TimeWise does not currently accept Medicaid or CHIP. That includes Texas STAR and STAR Kids, and in Georgia, Georgia Families and PeachCare for Kids.
If you are a Medicare beneficiary, raise it on the first call.
