Getting started

What actually happens, start to finish.

Most practices leave you to guess at this. Here is the whole sequence, so you know what you are agreeing to before you agree.

1. A free 15-minute call

You talk, mostly. What you are noticing, how long it has been going on, what you have tried, and what you hope changes. By the end you will have an honest answer to whether this looks like something speech therapy helps with, and whether TimeWise is the right practice for it. Sometimes the answer is no, and you will be told that.

No forms before this call. Nothing to fill in, nothing to pay.

2. Evaluation

Depending on age and concern this is one or two sessions. It combines formal assessment with watching how communication actually happens, plus a proper conversation with you about history and daily life.

You get a written report in plain language. It is yours. Take it to a pediatrician or a school if that is useful.

3. A plan you agree to

Before therapy begins you get the goals, session length and frequency, the home practice plan, and roughly how long before we should expect movement. If you disagree with a goal, say so and it changes.

4. Therapy, plus the work between sessions

Sessions start, and so does the home practice. You get specific assignments rather than a vague instruction to practice. Expect to be asked how it is going, and expect the plan to change if it is not working.

5. Reviews, and an ending

Goals get formally reviewed on a set schedule, so you know what has moved.

Therapy is supposed to end. When goals are met, or when this stretch of work has given what it is going to give, we will say so and discharge. A practice that never discharges anyone is telling you something about its priorities.
